This campsite has over 20+ sites that are tent only. This campground also has an enormous mountain that towers over the Wonder Lake Campground. The views are like none other and cannot compare, pictures do not do this area justice. There are ever bear proof lockers available throughout the campground.
Right below the iconic Grand Canyon and the Colorado River, Tuweep allows campers to experience the Grand Canyon without all the hustle and bustle of crowded areas. This is a site that might be more suited for advanced campers, it presents challenging roadways and during the summer there can be downpours with lightning. On the flipside, during these winter season you must be prepared for changing conditions with freezing temperatures. Despite the extreme conditions, this area has unique volcanic cinder cones that are special to this area.
There are many trails that begin right at the campground and the historic Bathhouse Row is just a short drive. There is also a great tail up to the little town of Hot Springs, AR (we recommend a mineral bath while you’re there).
