The ears are one of the most complex parts of a pet to take care of. It is hard to see deep down what is going on. Our furry family members can’t tell us they are feeling something. And by the time our pets are rubbing from the pain, it has usually progressed to an infection or close to one. Just like we clean out ears regularly, we can do the same for our dogs and cats. By doing so, we can hopefully avoid the headache of heading to the veterinary office. We always want them to be hearing and feeling their best.

Ear Cleaner

Cleaning out your pet’s ear doesn’t have to be painful. There is no need to be digging in with an extra-large swab. It can be more dangerous for them if we go in and try to dig out their ear wax. Just like with our ears, we can go too deep and end up hurting something we shouldn’t. They can’t let us know until it is too late that we have gone too far. Liquid ear cleaners are the way to go. We can routinely flush out their ears safely with an ear cleaner like Virbac’s Advanced Ear Cleaner. Put it on the schedule and keep to it. Prevention is one of the best ways to avoid your animals getting an ear infection.

Wipes

Does your dog have a lot of build-up and need extra help? Typical wipes can be awkward to get into all the small spaces and different folds of the ear, especially for smaller pets. Finger wipes help with the problem. They fit perfectly over your index finger, and then you can reach all the places that you need to. One brand to consider is Vet’s Best Ear Relief Finger Wipes. They not only help you get any visible wax that needs to be removed but helps with any smell as well. We all know that many unfortunate smells can come from our loved pets. They are also treated with aloe and witch hazel to help soothe anything irritating the ears. Getting their ears wiped will be something they begin to look forward to.

Treatments

At the start of an infection, there is usually time to stop it before it gets out of control. You need to have the right items on hand to get the job done. Bexley Labs has an Antiseptic Ear Flush that can help do just this. If you start noticing that your animals’ ears are bugging them and rubbing them, try this flush. It can stop an infection that is starting to take root in their ear. A dose can also extinguish any inflammation or itchiness. Always refer to your veterinarian and see if this will work for your four-legged family members next time they have an ear irritation.

Ears need to be taken care of regularly. If we don’t, we are giving our dogs and cats the perfect excuse not to listen.
