As we enjoy the first few month of summer, and the extra hours of daylight it offers, you might be scratching your head wondering how to make the most of your time. These activities simply scream “summer time” and will keep you entertained all summer long.
Make homemade ice cream
Ice cream is already a delectable summer tradition, but making your own is an even more fun and memorable experience. Purchase an ice cream churner, rock salt, and all of the other ingredients you need to make it at a reasonable price, and spend the summer experimenting with different flavors that you can’t buy in stores. Or, make your ice cream using tools as simple as a couple of Ziploc bags, ice, and some good old fashioned elbow grease.
Camp outdoors
If one of your summer goals was to spend more time in the great outdoors, why not dive right in with a camping trip? Drive outside of your town or city to a local camp site. Maybe keep it simple and set up the tent in your own backyard. Just remember to pack some marshmallows, brush up on your favorite camp fire story, and snuggle up to your loved ones as you spend the night under the stars.
Explore your town by bike
Bikes are a fun and efficient way of getting around. You’ll be surprised by how many new places you can discover by pedaling around of an hour or two. For an extra special experience, pick up a sandwich from your local deli and find a nice clearing or picnic table where you can eat, relax, and enjoy the scenery midway through the day.
Hit up a free summer concert
Most cities offer free summer concerts in the park. It is a fun way to bring people together to enjoy the arts in a public space. Most of the artists are less well known, but it’s still fun to jam the night away. Pack up a blanket and your lawn chairs, bring a snack or two, and dance along to some quality live music.
Find your inner grill master
When it’s hot outside, the last thing you want to do is crank on the stove. Instead, get creative with your grill to see what tasty concoctions you can come up with. Think bigger than your standard hamburger and hotdogs and try grilling fish, pizzas, fruit, and even desserts.
Don’t let summer fly on by! Take advantage of the fairer weather with some of these special activities.
